Highland Dawn.( Calednia Chronicles #2.5) by Anna Markland. Also part of the "World of de Wolfe Pack.

This book is from the " World of de Wolfe Pack "series,  This is a series of books all inspired by  Kathryn Le Veque´s " Lion Of The North" .
That doesn´t mean they are all going to be similar. Some are set in a close time line but others will be Contemporary , Regency ,some are even Paranormal. There is bound to be something for everyone.  .

…inspired by Kathryn Leveque’s Lion of the North.
Loyalty, honor, and obligation dictate Keith Starkey’s return to his Highland wife and their loveless marriage. He must leave behind a shy English lass who nursed him back to health after he was gravely wounded and left for dead at the battle of Towton.
Daughter of a murderous traitor, Aurora de la Londe is abandoned by her domineering father when he switches his allegiance to the Yorkists.
She needs a champion, but Keith cannot be that man, despite his attraction to her.
The convent offers Aurora’s only escape from the desolation of a broken heart and the threat of vengeance from the Lancastrians for her father’s treachery.
It seems unlikely these two mismatched souls will find the path to happiness—unless fate intervenes.

Keith Starkey is a Scottish Knight who dragged himself from the battlefield of Towton Moor. The English King his clan supported running for his life. By the time he had regained his  senses, no-one was  around to help him. He must struggle through the cold, wet, snow to Alnwick Castle.
The Castle is like a scene from hell with wounded men everywhere.
Aurora de la Londe is the daughter of a traitor, left in the household of the man he murdered. She knew nothing of her father's plans, but not everybody is happy to accept her presence.  Rather than deal with the angry castle folk,  Aurora makes herself useful looking after the wounded.

This book is easily read as a stand alone, but as it's part of the "World of de Wolfe Pack " I take that into account in this review.
Keith's story ties in beautifully with the "World" the known characters appearing but not stealing the show. Our hero in this book is torn between duty and desire. Our heroine is trying just to keep her head down in a time when women have no power. The emotion is strong ,the love scenes touching.

The detail our author brings to her books always make me "see" exactly how life was in that period . Once you start this you wont put it down until its finished. I loved it.

Anna Markland is a Canadian author with a keen interest in genealogy. She writes medieval romance about family honour, ancestry and roots. Her novels are intimate love stories filled with passion and adventure. Following a fruitful career in teaching, Anna transformed her love of writing and history into engaging works of fiction. One of the things she enjoys most about writing historical romance is the in-depth research required to provide the reader with an authentic medieval experience.
