Wild Bear. (Rescue Bears #2) by Scarlett Grove. ARC Review.

A bad bear …
Shane Keenan has survived everything life’s thrown at him. Growing up with an abusive stepfather who broke his bear’s mind left Shane unable to fully control his shifts. He went from famous chef to being forced to fight in a human war because of the wild bear inside him.

Now he’s finally back home on Fate Mountain -- and his toughest challenge yet is waiting.

Bruised hearts ...
Lily Mason has her own scars from growing up with an alcoholic mother. She’s loved Shane for years, and when a human/shifter dating site pairs them, she finally tells Shane the shocking truth about their last night together.

Shane can’t risk being around Lily or her son Theo, not when he can’t control his bear. But Lily knows she and Shane are true mates -- and she’s tired of waiting for him to claim her.

Fateful choices
When Theo runs away, Shane knows he’ll do anything to bring him back. Can he find a way to heal his bear, save the child … and persuade his mate to give him another chance?

Shane Keenan, known to his crew mates as Wild Bear was badly abused when he was young. That has affected his control over his bear. When he loses his temper his bear takes control and Shane doesn't always remember what he has done. The fighting he did in the war didn't help. He has avoided humans as much as possible since a public meltdown ruined his career as a chef.
Lily Mason is a struggling single mum. She has returned to her home town to work as a waitress, and hopes the shifter friendly environment will be helpful because her son is a bear shifter with no father figure.
Once again the app for Mate.com plays a role in the connection of two people who need each other.
This is an emotional, but fun romance where our hero must learn how to retain control, even when he gets wound up. Our heroine is a typically fierce, protective mum, but as a human needs help for her son.
I love the characters in this series. You could read this as a stand alone, but it's better to get the whole story by reading them in order. I loved it.
