ARC Reviews

Hi Everyone,  I would like to dedicate this Halloween to my mum.  She always considered herself a white witch.  If she was still alive she would be 86 years old now.  Her personality didn't fit with the time she was born to.  I hope, since she has been gone for ten years now,  she is on to a life that will fit her better.
She was a very intelligent woman who loved fun.  It wasn't until her mid to late forties when she lived on her own that she really discovered who she could be.  Then she found the much younger man that was the one she needed.  This modern world of the internet and indi published books would have been ideal for her.  She wrote,  painted and was generally artistic.  I haven't inherited her talents unfortunately.  The picture above that I found on Pinterest fits her personality so well.  A good witch with a little bit of wicked.  I miss you mum.  Xx

Synopsis: How does a bookish lady bring an arrogant lord to his knees? Entice him to Scotland, strip him of titles and riches, and make him prove what sort of man he truly is. Opposites… Handsome, wealthy, and sublimely confident, Colin Gray, the new Earl of Egremoor, has vowed to unmask the rabble-rousing pamphleteer, Lady Justice, the thorn in England’s paw. And he’ll stop at nothing. Attract. Smart, big-hearted, and passionately dedicated to her work, Lady Justice longs to teach her nemesis a lesson in humility. But her sister is missing, and a perilous journey with her archrival into unknown territory just might turn fierce enemies into lovers.

Colin Gray,  the new Earl of Egremoor has been part of a secret club for years.  They have been helping find missing people.  Sometimes those people didn't want to be found.  There is a person writing pamphlets ridiculing the club and his alter ego in particular.  With the death of his father, he needs to finish the club and make a proposal.
Lady Emily Vale is the eldest of happy family of sisters, one of whom is missing.  She has been more or less betrothed since birth to a man who was her best friend as a child but who has avoided her for years.
This is a lovely story where both our protagonists have a very firm opinion about life,  but still have very much to learn about truth.  They have both lived with secret personalities doing what they thought was right.  Our hero is not quite the typical Lord he is believed to be.  Our heroine has put herself so far outside the normal sphere of her rank in life so that she can try to affect the politics of the time.
They set off separately on a mission that turns into a joint one of discovery and lots of danger.
An intriguing and exciting historical romance with more than the usual share of adventure.
This is part of a series that can each be read as a stand alone.  I think I know the protagonists of the next book and cant wait to read it.  A thoroughly enjoyable story I loved it.

She desperately needed to speak to her friend. Not that a tokota could speak, that would be crazy, Noelle thought to herself with a laugh. But he was certainly a great listener.

Marric and Noelle’s relationship dated back to one winter morning when Noelle was fifteen and she came upon a lost small black and white wolf-looking pup. The little furry ball yipped and ran over to Noelle and they had been friends every since.

A snort greeted Noelle from behind her. She turned with a smile, finding a large black figure standing behind her.

That small fur ball had grown into a massive alpha tokota. Marric was well muscular and with each step that he took toward Noelle, she could see the predator in him. But she knew that he would never hurt her. Tokota’s were very loyal to their companions. He was a massive beast that could easily accommodate her on his back as a passenger.

“It took you long enough,” she murmured as he pushed his snout into her hand. “Well, hello to you too,” she said with a laugh.

Another snort at her comment. She ignored it, allowing a large grin to spread across her face as she ruffled her fingers through his fur. She knew he was looking for the treats that she always brought.

“I have a problem, Marric,” she admitted. He pulled back and his dark eyes settled on her. He sat back on his hind legs, ready to listen to her. “My birthday is coming up. December twenty-fifth, I’ll be turning thirty. Do you know what that means?”

Marric cocked his head to the side as if waiting for her to answer. Of course he didn’t know the workings of the laws of Faery. She sighed and shook her head.

“According to the laws of Faery, I must marry. My father, the king, will be having the Royal Tournaments to find a husband for me. Males from all over Faery will come to compete in the tournaments to win my hand in marriage. You would think that this was the medieval times. This is the twenty-first century.  A young Fae woman should be able to decide when it’s time for her to get married, not the governing body of our realm.”

Marric’s eyes didn’t waiver from Noelle as she spoke. Even without words, Noelle felt comforted by her friend’s presence. Maybe it was the chance to get her worries out in the open and off her chest that gave her relief, but deep down, Noelle was sure that it was Marric.

“But I’m sure that you’re just bored with my complaints,” she said with a hard laugh. She let loose a giggle as Marric butted her with his head. She wrapped her arms around his large neck and buried her head in his thick fur, squeezing tight before she let go.

“Ok, I’ll do it. For my family. For Faery,” she whispered, accepting what her family needed from her and what Faery would need from her.

Black Widow, (Black Widow Series #1) by Jenni Moen. Cover Reveal.

“I bet I could make you fall in love in a week.” The offer seals Scott Russell’s fate. After a bitter betrayal and an ugly divorce, the detective is forced to make a fresh start. His new position in a quiet suburb should be a walk in the park compared to his years in Chicago. However, he quickly learns that small towns come with their own issues, with citizens who are slow to forgive and even slower to forget. The town’s wealthy and reclusive author is a mystery to most. To Scott, she’s just another nameless girl on the train. With a reserved smile and shoes worth more than a month’s rent, his only concern is she might be out of his league. “I can give you seven days, but not my heart.” The acceptance is one more in a string of lies. Celeste Smythe doesn’t believe in love at first sight. Relationships take time and sometimes even that isn’t enough. Not with the secrets she harbors in her guarded heart. Yet fate keeps pushing her toward the handsome and absurdly persistent man, and resisting may be more than she can endure, no matter the risks. When the week is over, Scott may think he knows her. Celeste may know she loves him. But when the truth is revealed about the town’s most talked about citizen, he may discover he’s put more than his heart on the line.

Jenni Moen lives in her hometown in Oklahoma with her husband and three crazy, exuberant kids who have the potential to burn the house down at any moment. When she's not chauffeuring kids around town, performing her mom duties as a short order cook and maid, or vacuuming for her fastidious husband, she hammers away at her keyboard. Sometimes that means she's up to no good. But every now and then a new book is born.

Lessons in Purrsuasion (Chicago Catastrophe #2) by Rory Dale & Anya Nowlan. ARC Review.

An ex-SEAL werelion just seeking peace + a feisty, curvy woman with something to prove + a pregnancy no one could have expected = Suspenseful shifter romance you can't miss!

Stone Calloway thought he left behind his life of violence once he hung up his sniper rifle and settled into an easy routine. But just like this werelion ex-SEAL doesn't know when to relax, the world doesn't know when to leave him be, either. Called in to help an old friend get back his sister, Stone begrudgingly steps back into the world of organized crime, shifters hunting shifters, and everything that comes with it. He would have never guessed that the right woman could make him see all of it differently...

Selina Rozack wanted nothing more than to run her business in peace, but the curvy woman never stood for injustice and that got her in trouble with the wrong people. Or, well... the wrong shifters! The Crimson Claws, a shifter mob organization, is after her, and they're not the only ones. Stuck between two men who both think of her as theirs, Selina has to fight tooth and nail to prove that she's her own woman. The fact that one of the men is impossibly sexy and completely irresistible doesn't help at all. With a surprise pregnancy thrown into the mix, things start looking grimmer by the day... But maybe that's exactly what she needed? A blessing in disguise.

Can Stone show Selina that he's not just another possessive shifter out to claim her, and can she see him as more than an assassin? Or will the Crimson Claws catch up with them both before they can make up their minds, robbing them of their futures and their baby...

Lessons in Purrsuasion is a full novel with a happy ever after ending and no cheating! It can and should be read as a standalone!

Selina Rozak is just a baker that works in the family bakery.  Unfortunately in this Chicago there is a shifter mob who are demanding money for protection from the businesses.  Her father has refused to pay.  That has put her in the sights of a particularly nasty tiger shifter who wants her for himself.
Stone Calloway is an ex navy.   SEAL and a lion shifter . A friend has asked him to try and get his sister back from the men who kidnapped her.  That turns out to be just the start of their problems.
This is an all action, romantic suspense with the added flavour of shifters.  There is a lot of danger,  bullets and fur flying,  but we still get time for the romance.
This is part of a series but easily read on it's own.  I loved this very exciting book and can't wait to read the next one.

Anya Nowlan loves growly bears, hot sex and writing about both. The sexier and naughtier the better. She mostly writes paranormal and fantasy novellas and novels, focusing on shifters and their lucky mates. Her stories are often bite-sized, just what you need to soothe that craving for brave women and strong alphas with a big side-order of some smuttiness.

Anya lives in Boston with her boyfriend and several dogs of varying sizes and levels of mischief. She can't go through a day without chocolate and has an unhealthy addiction to purses, but every girl is allowed her little vices, right?

Zadri: Dragons of Preor #5 , by Celia Kyle as Erin Tate. ARC Review.

What’s a single, pregnant woman supposed to do when her family wants that baby gone? Go to Preor Choosing Station Tau and hope a dragon shapeshifting alien is her mate, of course.

Delaney Cole found her mate among the Preor only to watch him die—through his own eyes thanks to the Knowing. Now, what’s she supposed to do when she discovers that her second mate is the male who’d killed her first? It doesn’t matter that he’s gorgeous, that his peach scales invite her touch, and his thick muscles make her fingers tingle with the need to caress him. She shouldn’t want such a violent, deadly male, but… she does.

Zadri was born a son of Syh, orphaned and unwanted, and he never imagined actually having a mate. Yet, Delaney is his. Yes, he was the one to rip out her first mate’s throat, but now that he has experienced the Knowing with her, he will not let her go. Her lush curves, inner strength, and unborn young belong to him—wholly and until he takes his final flight.

When others attempt to rip her from his life, he will explain the gravity of their error. Slowly. Painfully. He only hopes he can reach her before they escape.

Part of the "Dragons of Preor" series:

Defence Master Zadri sen Syh has been keeping watch over the pregnant human . She has been unconscious, and suffering nightmares since he killed her mate in battle.  It is not only guilt that has kept him at her side.
Delaney Cole comes from a very wealthy family, but her parent's reaction to her unplanned pregnancy caused her to look elsewhere for help.
This is part of a series that is best read in order to fully understand the characters.  Our hero is a dragon shifter alien from the planet of Preor.  He is also an emotionally damaged and very sexy man.  Our heroine's pregnancy is causing her no end of problems, but all she really needs is acceptance.
An exciting and emotional story from a series that I am hopelessly addicted to.  I loved it.

Celia Kyle would like to rule the world and become a ninja. As a fall-back, she’s working on her writing career and giving readers stories that touch their hearts and *ahem* other places. Visit her online
