Texas is burning.

It’s clear to doctor Gavin Morris and ghost hunter Annabelle Smith that no ordinary prairie fires destroyed one small frontier town, leaving few survivors. Now, the strange flames are threatening larger cattle towns to the east.

Can the unlikely pair decipher the clues before time runs out, or are they doomed to burn with more than passion?

Content warning: this western paranormal romance contains both strong religious themes and graphic sex scenes.

Dr. Gavin Morris is trying to find survivors after a town caught fire in the old west.  He knows those he finds have only a very small chance of living. If the burns didn't kill them infection probably will. He can hardly believe how so many died in such a quick time.  It's a very strange fire.
Annabelle Smith is a medium.  She is drawn to the dead who need her help to pass over to the other side.  The burnt out town has many who she can help.
Our heroine is used to people thinking she is crazy or shunning her because of her abilities.
Our hero is very open minded considering he is a man of science.  That's because of his special relationship with his mother.
A paranormal romance set in the old west makes this a very different type of story.  Our heroine is just about as innocent as can be.  She is also incredibly strong,  thanks to her faith in what she does.  Her personal history however means she is maybe too independent for her own good.
A thoroughly enjoyable story that will keep you interested from the first to last page.

In the world of the written word, Simone Beaudelaire strives for technical excellence while advancing a worldview in which the sacred and the sensual blend into stories of people whose relationships are founded in faith, but are no less passionate for it. Unapologetically explicit, yet undeniably classy, Beaudelaire’s 20+ novels aim to make readers think, cry, pray… and get a little hot and bothered.

In real life, the author’s alter-ego teaches composition at a community college in a small western Kansas town, where she lives with her four children, three cats, and husband – fellow author Edwin Stark.

As both romance writer and academic, Beaudelaire devotesnherit herself to promoting the rhetorical value of the romance in hopes of overcoming the stigma associated with literature’s biggest female-centered genre.
